The OIG staff consists of a Police Performance Auditor IV, a Sergeant II, Special Investigators II, seven Police Performance Auditors III, an Executive Administrative Assistant, a Systems Analyst II, and four Senior Clerk Typists. The special investigators are available to assist with any questions the public may have regarding LAPD personnel complaints.
The special investigators monitor, audit, review and when appropriate, initiate personnel investigations. They may also be assigned under the direct supervision of the Inspector General to assist in investigating highly sensitive allegations of misconduct. The staff conducts reviews of selected completed personnel investigations.
The police performance auditors conduct in-depth reviews of specified LAPD audits, assessing their completeness, quality, and findings, as well as conduct their own specified independent audits.
The Inspector General and her staff also conduct intensive reviews of all Categorical Uses of Force. After each review, the Inspector General briefs the Police Commissioners of the findings.
The Systems Analyst maintains the many different databases within the OIG. The Systems Analyst is also responsible for maintaining the official OIG website.
The Administrative Support Section is responsible for a myriad of tasks. The Executive Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for providing administrative support and organizing, coordinating, and supervising the staff in the section, including the Senior Clerk Typists who perform a variety of clerical duties within the Office.
The Sergeant II serves as the aide to the Inspector General and is a vital link to the internal policies and procedures of the Department. The Sergeant completes special projects on behalf of the Inspector General. On occasion, the Sergeant completes personnel investigations involving allegations against the staff within the office.
In addition to their oversight duties, OIG staff members are available upon request to attend community group meetings and make presentations regarding the Police Commission and the OIG.
